Pepper Steak

Here’s another tried and tested, simple but yummilicious recipe… Go on, the compliments are already knocking at your door…

500g beef, cut into strips (2cm)

1 small onion

1 small green pepper

1 small red pepper

1 tomato

1/4 – 1/2 cup fresh cream (add more if required)

1/2 tsp chilli powder

1/4 tsp tumeric powder

1/4 tsp dhana/jeera powder

1 tsp crushed garlic

1/2 tsp texan spice

1/2 tsp pepper or more

Brown beef strips in butter. Remove. Add sliced onion in the same pot used to brown the beef. After 2 minutes, add sliced peppers and saute for another 2 minutes. Add steak to pot and add spices. Mix well. When beef is cooked, add few extra slices red and green pepper, fresh cream and diced tomato. Simmer for a few minutes till thickened. Add salt to taste.

Note: it’s best to add salt at the end as texan spice is already salted. As an alternative use about half cup nando’s pepper sauce instead of fresh cream.

Best served with roti or naan bread.
